We always love a good wedding. Today we attended one for my student and friend, Thomas. It was great to see him and his lovely bride and also catch up to some of my other long lost students who have since moved to various cities to practice medicine.
The interesting thing about weddings in China is the food. You would think they would have the best food at a wedding, but that is never the case. I cannot remember a wedding that I left with a full belly, ah, except that there are so many toasts you are eventually full of whatever you are drinking. Today I got full of orange juice.
Let's see if I can remember some of the delicacies... there was turtle, some sort of intestine dish, a pork joint (photo included), a fish, chicken soup (the only thing eatable), clam something, frog parts and pepper, and a few snack type dishes. Gracie ate more than either of us - that is because she is mostly Chinese.
Well, good thing we didn't go for the food! We did have a very enjoyable time and Gracie made lots of new friends. The MC was so loud, but very entertaining - the exchanged between Thomas and his bride were priceless. Congrats to the newlyweds!
