Last night Matt and I had a date - first one in 3 months. We were so excited to go out and enjoy dinner and a movie together that we only slightly cringed when we heard Gracie's wails of protest from the ground floor. We knew she was in good hands so we cheerfully made our way to the theatre in town to see The Water Horse, which was the only English movie showing. It was wonderful to feel reconnected with my sweetie over Doritoes, popcorn, and flat coke.
When we got home we heard the most amazing story. For one Gracie pitched a fit and didn't want to eat her dinner - surprise, surprise. She also fell asleep in Pat's arms before her actual bedtime while watching Cars, but all of that was not so abnormal. The big surprise was that she went poopoo and peepee in the potty - yes, two seperate events. WOW!
Apparently she has been listening all those times we've diligently tried to coerce her into the bathroom. She announced that she needed to go poopoo in the potty. When Pat couldn't locate her little potty, and Gracie restated her need with an added "NOW!" they headed to the regular potty and Gracie squatted on the seat. And there she poo pooed in the potty for the very 1st time and I missed it! Later she announced she needed to go peepee in the potty and they headed back to the bathroom where she squatted and peepeed in the potty.
Of course she didn't repeat this gesture for us today, but we are still pretty excited that she finally did it - and did it without anyone telling her to. She is getting so big! I sure hope we say good-bye to the diapers soon.
